"We cannot all succeed when half of us are held back." – Malala Yousafzai

Education is a basic human right that should be available to all, regardless of gender. Yet we know that around the world, women and girls face additional barriers to accessing education. Oak Veerangana aims to break down these barriers by empowering women: addressing issues such as sexual and domestic violence, and fostering financial independence.

How it Started

Ignited by the passion of 17 high school students from diverse corners of India, the journey of Veerangana was set into motion in 2021 during the prestigious Harvard Youth Lead The Change conference, where young minds united in their mission to transform lives and communities.

Our Vision & Mission

Vision: at Project Veerangana, we envision a world where every woman stands strong and empowered, free from the shackles of violence and financial dependence. We aspire to create a society where women are recognized as leaders, decision-makers, and architects of their destinies.

Misson: to shine a light on the path to empowerment for women. We are committed to spreading awareness, providing education, and taking meaningful action to combat issues such as domestic and sexual violence. We aim to equip women with the tools they need to achieve financial independence, ensuring they have the means to lead lives of dignity and freedom.

Oak Veerangana x Project Suvriddhi: Sustaining the Mission

Oak Veerangana is specially designed for Oakridge School, with a sustained focus on the cause of underprivileged women. Oak Veerangana has also been incorporated into Project Suvriddhi- a school-wide crowdfunding project for government schools. This initiative includes provisions for sanitary napkins for female students, addressing a pressing need and promoting hygiene and dignity.

Our focus continues to be on conducting financial literacy courses for female staff members, enabling them to secure their financial future. Oak Veerangana will be handed down to successive student councils, ensuring its longevity and continuous service to the community.

Our Progress

Financial Independence

One of our proudest achievements has been the implementation of a financial literacy course. We extended our support to the women cleaning staff of our school. Impacting a remarkable 70 staff members, we equipped them with the knowledge and tools to open bank accounts, fostering financial independence and a brighter future.

Spreading Awareness

Our mission to create a positive impact began with the power of information and awareness. Project Veerangana has made significant strides in this endeavor. We've harnessed the immense influence of social media, amassing a substantial following of 18,000 accounts on Instagram alone. Through our digital presence, we've initiated critical conversations, breaking the silence on issues that matter the most.

We've also had the privilege of hosting enlightening interviews with experts like lawyers, which we've shared on our YouTube channel. These discussions have served as beacons of knowledge, guiding our audience toward a better understanding of pressing issues surrounding women's rights and empowerment.

Community Engagement

Empowerment is not just about words; it's about action. Project Veerangana's journey took us to a government school in Nashik, where we organized a pivotal session on domestic violence for 30 young girls. Our goal was not just to educate but to inspire change, encouraging these girls to stand up and speak out.
